Born in Edinburgh, Scotland,  Lyz graduated from Glasgow School of Art University with B.A. (honors) Degree in Printed Textile Design and then obtained a postgraduate Degree in teaching.  She later taught art in two contrasting school environments before emigrating to the US in 1980, where she attended Parsons School of Design specializing in Business Management.

In 2011she became a part time faculty instructor at The Academy Of Art University, San Francisco, instructing Textile Design to BFA students and MFA graduates.

Her experience and education led to working with European designers including Emanuel Ungaro, Sonia Rykiel and Krizia in New York and Gianni Versace and Prada in San Francisco. During this time Lyz merchandised and styled fashion shows and promotional events.  This work gave her an in depth understanding of the fashion industry at many levels.

Throughout her career, Lyz has maintained a specialist collection of textile prints which has been marketed across the US.  In addition she has designed and developed products for packaging, home furnishings and fashion clients, often exhibiting at Surtex in New York. She has developed strong presentation skills, from working closely with corporate clients and design teams. Her presentations show alternative hues, additional coordinated prints and inspirational mood boards. She creates excitement with her acute color sense and merchandising expertise.

Lyz is passionate about her work, has traveled the world researching trends and finding new inspirations. Her work is grounded in the multifaceted and contrasting aspects of nature, architecture, color, and texture, but, most particularly, her Scottish art heritage.
